Tour Highlights

South America: a continent rich in contrasts and a fateful as well as eventful history. The empire of the Incas, the best known
culture in South America and mostly located in what nowaday is Peru, attracted treasure hunters, adventurers and scientists from
the very beginning. But there were more than just the Incas, one of the last high cultures in South America when the Spaniards set
foot on the undiscovered land. Beside the Incas there were the Chimus and Chachapoyas in Northern Peru, cultures which for a
long time had resisted the Incas' conquest attempts before they were finally defeted by them, just a few decades before the
Europeans came. The ancestors of the Chimus, a culture called Moche, are supposed to be the „Greeks of the New World“ thanks
to their amazing artwork and architecture. Nothern Peru where they constructed large cities with pyramids for their gods is now
supposed to be the archeologists' „New Egypt“. This tour will bring you not only to the centers of these mysterious cultures of the
North, but also to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and of course Machu Picchu. The tour ends in Cusco from where you will start
your trip back home. This tour is a Must for fans of history and culture!
